The Suburban Inter-Church Dart Baseball League started over 60 years ago in 1954, by Nelson and William Clater. It originally started with 10 charter members, but now has 8 member churches.
The League begins it's eight month long season starting the first Monday after the Labor Day holiday. The season consists of 81 games. Three games are played in one night.
Most teams consist of 9 league members who when throwing, use a feathered dart about 5 to 6 inches long called "American Darts", and stand 20 ft. away from a 4 ft. square dart board. Each league member attempts to get a hit on the dart board marked with certain sections as a hit and others as an out. There are 9 innings per game and substitute players may be entered just like a real baseball game.
At the end of every season, a league banquet is held where team trophies are awarded to the top 4 teams depending on where they finish at the end of the regular season. Individual trophies are also awarded to the league players finishing with the most hits, highest batting average, most runs batted in, most bunts, singles, doubles, triples, and homeruns.
